Yesterday I ran an open house in a condo complex that was situated right beside the builders open house. The agent for the builder and I struck up a conversation and got along fabulously. As the day progressed, she was able to refer a few parties to my open house, and I was able to refer a few parties to her open house. By the end of the day we both had potential clients and all were quite happy.

Some Realtors prefer not to refer potential clients to others, fearing that they may loose them. I feel that referring to others when needed, positions you as being a true professional. It gives others the impression that you are one who is open and concerned for their best interests. Yesterdays exchange confirmed that for me.
